For many people 2020 wasn’t their year. While it certainly wasn’t mine to begin with either, I do feel somewhat guilty because 2020 was one of the best years I could have asked for!

The twists and turns, the changed plans x 100. While I could spend hours chatting to you about the changes, and all the amazing adventures, the laughs, the food and the memories, I feel this quote captures it just right.

“…to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by. To remember both our triumphs and missteps, our promises made and broken. This was a little moment of happiness when I received a call asking if I wanted to photograph a family in their first crop of wheat before it was harvested in a couple of days. The morning was filled with laughter, jokes and oh so beautiful light.

In the cool air of the tablelands, the stars shining bright, we started climbing the rock face.

With fresh coffee in the flask, headlights on and giggles that echoed out in the National Park.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We made it to the peak quicker than expected. Allowing us to breath ‘smoke’ for a couple of minutes before watching the sun break over horizon on land that had a welcoming feel.

I live for these moments.

There was a magic about this marriage. Magic in the way they looked at each other, the way they celebrated and the way the navigated the challenges of an ever-changing 2020. As many know I don’t often photograph weddings, but when a beautiful email came through kindly asking due to their photographer being confined to Queensland, something felt right. It felt right on the day, as they smiled, speaking calmly and absolutely awe of each other. It was a love I hadn’t seen in a while, the little moments, the magic.

Nothing beats a Sunday morning in a small country town. A slow wander down the streets of Uralla. The crisp air as the frost settled on the ground while settling my mind.

The day before we had been up before sunrise, with a cool temperature of -3 we had headed excitedly to the fall lookout to watch the sunrise before walking the waterfall track.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As the frost and fog sprawled over the valley, sweeping in like a magic carpet we were in awe of the glistening frost on the grass beneath our boots.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To this day this weekend away has been one of the most memorable.
